7-Days Similan & Surin Island Paradise
Total seclusion and blissful blue seas combined with some of the best scenery and diving in the region. Swimming with the sea turtles and sampling the most perfect beaches the tropics have to offer whilst spending peaceful nights at anchor in picturesque bays.
The Similan Islands are 65 miles to the west of Phuket with the Surin islands a further 45 miles north. The return cruise can be via the undeveloped west coast and the many beautiful bays and five star Spa Resorts on Phuket’s own coast, dependent on the number of days you wish to enjoy the secluded tranquility of the Similan and Surin Islands.
Possible itinerary
Day 1
Boarding in Patong Bay the Yacht will strike a course for the 55 mile, 3.5 hour cruise to the Similan Islands. Dependent on your arrival time, this may be done through the glorious tropical sunset or even overnight. Either way, your first breakfast on board will be with the Sea Turtles. Dropping anchor off the southernmost island will ensure your first experience of the Similans is guaranteed to be one of dramatic beauty and tranquility.
Day 2
A day of leisurely exploration and one designed to accommodate your preferred activities. Cruising slowly north, amongst the 9 idyllic islands that make up the Archipelago, the choice is yours, swimming with the sea turtles, visiting the powder soft, white sandy beaches and exploring the islands beautiful, lush interiors or maybe Scuba Diving. The Similans offer an incredible variety of diving, large caves, bright coral reefs and exotic marine life await those who wish to sample this magnificent underwater world. With crystal clear waters and gentle currents the Similans offer spectacular diving to suit absolute beginners and accomplished divers alike. (see “Diving Arrangements” for full details).
However your day has been spent it will end with drinks served on the fly bridge whilst cruising through an unbelievable sunset to the nights chosen anchorage. With no habitation in the islands, a night at anchor reveals a skyward view you will never forget.
Day 3
A breakfast cruise north, past the picture perfect islands of Koh Bon and Koh Tachai, and onward to into the remote world of The Surin Islands. Your day will be spent touring the 5 uninhabited islands that make up the quiet and gorgeous Islands. Anchoring in idyllic locations, the crew will launch the tender and explore this uninhabited, tourist free paradise as you wish.
Your third magnificent sunset in the Islands and your Captain will offer you a gourmet beach BBQ on a secluded island with a perfect beach and an idyllic night at anchor.
Day 4
The morning swim followed by breakfast will see Michaela weigh anchor and cruise around the remaining islands as you wish. Lunch will be served as you set a course for the mainland, a short 25 mile hop to the east. Making landfall at Koh Ra, a small, deserted island of mangroves separated from the mainland by a narrow channel.
Turning South you will gently cruise the 35 miles towards Khao Lak. Passing Koh Phra Tong and Koh Kho Khao where the rainforest and mangroves meet the long deserted beaches. You may chose to anchor and explore some of the sights along this fascinating coastline, the stranded naval ship, 5 km inshore that forms a monument to the 2004 Tsunami, traditional fishing and craft villages unchanged for decades. No tourist intrusion or development, the coastline offers not just its natural beauty, but a unique experience of untouched, tropical coastal life, lust as its always been.
Michaela will arrive in Khao Lak late afternoon, anchoring off the magnificent and very exclusive, Sarojin Resort. Beautifully located with private beach access, a trip ashore in the tender will offer you exotic cuisine in a luxurious atmosphere tonight.
Day 5
Michaela will require fuel from the main town jetty, providing an ideal opportunity to explore this interesting, old town or visit the quiet beaches with the tender. A mid morning departure and the 30 mile cruise down the coast to Phuket’s magnificent bays. Anchoring in time for lunch off the 11 km long, Mai Khao Beach. Time for a trip ashore should you desire, and an exclusive Spa after all the swimming or a late afternoon round of golf, maybe the atmospheric beach bars dotted along the tree lined beach.
Your choices for dinner tonight, take the tender ashore and enjoy the many exquisite restaurants found in the exclusive resorts dotted along the beach. The luxurious Anantara, exotic Maikhao Dream and many others offer a wonderful choice of atmosphere. Michaela will weigh anchor after dinner and cruise further south, offering a wonderful night time view of the lit up coastline of beach bars, small villages and Resorts. This nights anchorage will be chosen to best serve your choice of activity for the following day as you will have arranged with your Captain.
Day 6
This is a day to enjoy some of Phuket’s famous landmarks and temples or a few more hours being pampered in the exclusive luxury Spa’s, maybe a round of golf at Blue Canyon, Thailand’s premier course, a shopping trip or just enjoy the many beautiful bays and beaches found on the southern coast. A luxury, chauffeur driven car will be at your disposal all day providing an ease to your chosen activities.
However you decide to spend your day, Michaela will leave Phuket late afternoon to cruise past the southern islands of Phuket and on to the luxurious island of Koh Racha. Anchoring in Batok Bay for the night, famed for the sunset, this west facing bay is the perfect place for evening drinks on the fly bridge before embarking for the short tender ride to the jetty and a sumptuous last night dinner in the scenic, gourmet restaurants of The Racha.
Day 7
After your, by now traditional, morning swim in the crystal water and breakfast, the morning will be spent cruising slowly North, into Phang Nga Bay, stopping as you wish for a swim and lunch, on the many small and incredibly picturesque islands you will see on the passage. Too many to list, suffice to say your last morning on board will not be disappointing. Phang Nga is a majestic bay filled with dramatic limestone islands rising out of emerald waters, many of which have small white beaches nestled into beautiful lagoons surrounded by sheer sided cliffs.
Arrival back at the Marina will be mid afternoon or as suits your onward traveling arrangements.
The round trip will be approximately 360 nautical miles.
You may wish to extend your stay in Phuket by combining the charter with a few nights at one of the many luxurious spa resorts found amongst the islands and on Phuket itself before flying home. It may even be your wish is to transfer to and from the boat on the west coast via the tender and floating pontoons in Patong Bay or Bang Tao thus extending your time in the islands and saving the time spent cruising back to the Marina.

The final choice of activity, time in any particular location, or the locations themselves, can be altered to suit your preferences and prevailing weather. The only two unchangeable factors, the fuel range of the yacht and the time frame of your stay.
Michaela is a luxury Yacht and as such is not equipped to safely guide you into this incredible undersea world. Equally, the Islands are a protected National Park so we are, rightly, not permitted to anchor close to the coral reefs, anchors being very destructive to this delicate environment. As Sunseeker in Thailand, we have made arrangements with two specialized, Internationally Qualified, and fully licensed Dive schools with whom we have many years experience on behalf of our owners and their guests. These schools provide us with your exclusive Dive Master and guide, all of which carry all the appropriate insurances and work only with top of the range, well tested equipment.
Whether your first diving experience, or you have more experience, these schools will work liaise with your Captain and meet Michaela as required. They will take you to sites best suited to your scuba experience on their own fully equipped Dive Boats. Licensed schools have specific moorings within the various sites where the Dive Masters will safely escort you into this amazing and colourful world.
Prior notice is required, along with details your diving experience to date, and the appropriate arrangements will be made to seamlessly blend this experience into your chosen itinerary.
